Bouldercombe State School, located in the Central Queensland region, is just 20km from the heart of Rockhampton on the Burnett Highway, connecting Rockhampton and Mount Morgan. A Proud History
Established in 1881, Bouldercombe State School is one of Queensland's oldest schools, celebrating 125 years of public education in 2006. Our long history is a testament to the strong community spirit and commitment to quality education that defines our school.
Our School Today
In 2023, we proudly serve approximately 80 students, providing a supportive and engaging learning environment. Our fully air-conditioned classrooms are equipped with internet and email facilities, ensuring that students have access to modern technology and resources.
Bouldercombe State School is an active member of the Greater Rockhampton District Sporting body, providing students with opportunities to participate in a variety of sporting events and activities.

Bouldercombe State School blends historic charm with modern amenities to support our students’ academic and physical development:
- Main Building: This iconic structure houses the office, staff room, a classroom, and an archive room, with a fully equipped kitchen on the ground floor.
- Modern Teaching Spaces: A newer building features double teaching spaces, and a separate demountable building is home to our early yeard a
- Resource Centre and The Arts & Instrumental Room: Our newest facility combines a library, The Arts room as well as our instrumental room.
- Upgraded Administration Office: Refurbished in 2010, our main administration office ensures smooth and efficient operations.
Outdoor Spaces
Our school boasts a variety of well-maintained outdoor facilities to support active learning and play:
- Large Covered Play Area: Perfect for all-weather recreation.
- Sporting Courts: Two bitumen tennis courts and a multi-purpose netball/basketball courts.
- Grassed Ovals: Three expansive ovals used for sports, athletic carnivals, and play.
- Shaded Forts: P-3 shaded play structures designed to meet the gross motor needs of students.
- Sandpit: Located near the front of school and the early years classroom for creative and sensory play.
- Covered Eating Area: A comfortable, communal space for students to enjoy their meals.
